A website is a sales asset, not a brochure

The most common brief we receive is a redesign: the current site looks dated, so it needs to look modern. It is a reasonable instinct and almost always the wrong measure of success. A site can look excellent and still fail to produce a single enquiry, and we have rebuilt several beautiful websites for exactly that reason.

So we start from the other end. Who is arriving, what question are they trying to answer, and what is the single next step we want them to take? Every section then has to justify itself against that. A team photo is worth having if trust is the obstacle; it is dead weight if the visitor's real question is what this costs.

In practice this changes the structure more than the styling. Clearer propositions above the fold, proof placed where doubt appears rather than all clustered on one page, one primary action repeated at each natural decision point, and far less text asking the visitor to work out for themselves whether they are in the right place.

Speed, structure and the technical basics that quietly decide your ranking

A slow site loses visitors before they see any of your work, and Google measures it. We build with Core Web Vitals as a constraint rather than an afterthought: compressed and correctly sized images in modern formats, no bloated page builder generating a thousand nested divs, only the scripts that earn their place, and hosting configured for the traffic you actually have.

Underneath that sits the structure search engines depend on. A logical URL hierarchy, one clear H1 per page and headings that nest properly, internal links that connect related services instead of orphaning them, structured data so your pages can appear as more than a plain blue link, and a sitemap that stays accurate as the site grows.

None of this is visible to a visitor, and all of it is visible to Google. It is also far cheaper to build in from the start than to retrofit later, which is the usual reason a site needs technical SEO work six months after launch.

Multilingual done properly, not with a translate plugin

Automatic translation widgets are tempting and they consistently disappoint. They generate content search engines will not index, they mangle nuance in exactly the sentences that need to persuade, and they leave you with no way to say something different to a German audience than to a Spanish one.

We build multilingual sites where each language is a real version of the page: its own URL, its own indexable content, correct hreflang tags so Google serves the right language to the right visitor, and a language switcher that moves between equivalent pages rather than dumping everyone on the homepage.

That structure also lets you adapt rather than merely translate. Different markets have different objections, different competitors and different proof that carries weight. A site built this way can run seven languages — this one does — without the English version quietly becoming the only one that actually sells.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a new website take?

A focused business site is typically four to eight weeks from kick-off to launch, depending on how quickly content and feedback come back. Larger builds with webshop functionality, multiple languages or custom integrations take longer. The part that most often causes delay is not development — it is waiting for text, photography and internal approvals, so we plan those in from the first week.

Why WordPress rather than a custom build?

Because for most business websites it gives you the best combination of flexibility, cost and independence. You can edit your own content without a developer, the ecosystem is enormous, and you are not locked into an agency's proprietary system. We build custom themes rather than buying templates, so you get a unique design without inheriting the bloat that makes so many WordPress sites slow. For genuinely application-like projects we would recommend custom software instead, and we will say so.

Can we manage the content ourselves after launch?

Yes, and we set it up expecting you to. Text, images, blog posts and most page sections are editable through a straightforward interface, and we hand over a short walkthrough so your team is not guessing. Structural changes and new page types are where we come back in.

Do you handle hosting, maintenance and security?

We can, and we usually recommend it. That covers updates, backups, uptime monitoring, security hardening and performance checks. Websites that are left unmaintained for a year are the ones that get compromised — we have cleaned up enough of them to be firm about this.

Can you migrate our existing site and keep our rankings?

Yes. A migration done badly is one of the fastest ways to lose organic traffic, so we treat it as its own project: a full inventory of existing URLs, a redirect map from every old address to its new equivalent, preserved metadata and structure, and monitoring in Search Console for weeks afterwards to catch anything that slipped.
